Magnus gazed at Irwin, then dropped to his knees. "Forgive me, but she's all I have. I can't lose her. I love her so much. Please, let her come back to me."

Irwin leaned back, eyes fixed on the ceiling as the smoke from his cigarette clouded his view. "She wants a divorce."

A heavy silence filled the room. Irwin sat up, scrutinizing Magnus, who remained on his knees, utterly bewildered.

"My wife is still very young and naive."

"Is she? She strikes me as quite bold and wise," Irwin countered, "She's my type," he added, biting his lower lip with a smirk that made Magnus furious.
